Product Description

Product Description:

The DIGI MISTER duct mounted evaporative whole house humidifier, designed, patented, UL 998, CSA C22.2 No.104 Safety Standard tested and certified by SGS North America Inc. in 2022 (Certificate #: SGSNA/22/SUW/00074X) in the United States, is installed to operate in conjunction with the forced-air heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) systems for residential houses or office buildings. It is designed to be less expansive, water and energy efficient, low maintenance, and easy to install in comparison with other duct mounted humidifiers.

Customers can precisely set room humidity, a hot air temperature and water pressure when the water spray starts. Once the humidity is lower than desired and the hot air temperature rises to the pre-set point, atomized water mist will be dispersed into the passing hot air by the fan-shaped spray nozzles. A mini vibration motor on the spray nozzle bracket facilitates the formation of the fine water mist. The fine mist will evaporate and then be carried into your home by the furnace hot air flow. Eight (8) UVC LEDs will be lit on when the DM538 humidifier is powered up. Customers can have this function even in summer when the AC is running.

This humidifier is suitable for most duct type of forced-air HVAC systems, such as gas or oil heated, up/downflow or horizontal, single stage or multi-stage, heat pump with aux heat and electric furnaces. Due to its compact design, only a small cut-out at or near the plenum is needed for installation. No bypass duct, no drainage and no high voltage power line is required. It can be installed not only in homes or offices, but also in applications where space is very limited. The DIGI MISTER humidifier is an ideal humidification solution for homes or apartments that have the HVAC system installed in a small utility closet or that are built on a slab. Additionally, if an existing humidifier doesn’t provide sufficient humidity, the DIGI MISTER can be easily installed and maintained as a supplementary humidity booster.

Take Control of Your Humidifier

A fine atomized water mist is the key to effectively evaporated into the passing hot airEach nozzle must be tested and cleaned by using provided nozzle tester before installationThe mist status can easily be checked via the built-in observation windowWater mist can not be atomized appropriately if the water pressure is too lowClean or replace the nozzles which don’t spray fine mist immediately

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why there is water leakage from the water pressure regulator body and I can’t adjust the water pressure?

The water pressure regulator is a unidirectional device and must be connected in its designated flow direction. Check the flow direction mark or label on the regulator body before connecting it to the water lines. If connected incorrectly, it will be unable to regulate the pressure and may result in excessive water leakage. Don’t try to turn the pressure all the way down to zero to shut off the water, which will cause water leakage. It is a water pressure regulator, not a shut off valve.

What can I do if some of the nozzles I received cannot spray fine water mist?

The DIGI MISTER humidifiers can support max. 5 fine mist nozzles. These nozzles are specially designed to be used for low pressure applications. They have a tiny orifice hole (0.1mm) and several small components which must work together perfectly to form a fine water mist. Due to such large volume mass production these components cannot be exactly the same in dimension, shape, surface finish, etc. so each nozzle will perform differently. Users must use the nozzle tester to easily test and clean all the nozzles, no matter new or used, before installing on the humidifier. DO NOT INSTALL FAULTY NOZZLES in your humidifier.

What factors must be considered for the mounting location of the humidifier?

When considering the mounting location of a humidifier, these factors must be taken into account to ensure optimal performance and efficiency:

1. Temperature: The hot air temperature must fall within the range of 100°F to 150°F. This temperature range ensures that the water mist can evaporate efficiently without being too low to cause slow evaporation or too high to potentially damage the humidifier.

2. Hanging time in the air: Placing the humidifier where the mist can hang in the air for as long as possible ensures maximum evaporation efficiency. It is essential to avoiding locations where the mist may hit the duct walls or other surfaces, which will lead to water puddles and leakages.

3. Number of nozzles: An ideal mounting location should accommodate the installation of a sufficient number of nozzles (maximum of 5). The best location for mounting is typically at a “T-section” above the AC coil in the furnace plenum. If mounted on a horizontal duct with at least 10” height, the number of nozzles will be limited by the duct width.

What if the nozzles spray perfectly fine mist, but there are still some wet spot or water puddles in the duct?

In this case you need to reduce the water pressure and the number of the nozzles installed because the furnace hot air cannot vaporize all the water mist sprayed. You can also try to increase the hot air temperature or increase the draft motor speed for quicker evaporation.

How can I set up my humidifier for my multi-stage furnace with a variable speed blower?

In general, the multi-stage furnaces equipped with a variable speed blower, such as a ECM motor, will run in a slow motor speed and a relatively low hot air temperature (but not below 100℉). Due to slow air movement, you can use a few spray nozzles (like 1 or 2) or adjust to a lower water pressure first to check if the water mist can evaporate fully, only increase nozzles if the furnace and duct is still dry. You may get enough humidity with fewer nozzles because this type of furnace is usually running at lower stage with long period time or almost constantly on.

Can I use my current furnace thermostat with a humidistat, such as a Nest Thermostat, to control the DIGI MISTER humidifier?

Your current smart furnace thermostat can partially control the DIGI MISTER humidifier. If you use the humidifier control function of a Nest thermostat to power up (24VAC) the DIGI MISTER humidifier, make sure to select “Hum.+Heat” for activate and set a high target humidity level on the DIGI MISTER. In this way the humidifier will be powered on when the Nest calls for humidity and for heat, the Nest takes over the control on humidity criteria. However, you must set the hot air temperature on the humidifier above 100 degree Fahrenheit so that the water mist can be sprayed and fully evaporated only when the hot air temperature in the duct reaches the setting point. The DIGI MISTER should still control when to start to spray mist.

Why the surface near the UVC LEDs on the humidifier getting dark and darker after several weeks of in operation? Should I be concerned?

The enclosure materials of the DIGI MISTER humidifiers are UL 746C Yellow Card materials, suitable for use with respect to exposure to ultraviolet light, water exposure and immersion. It is allowed some discolor with the time on the surface, but the material strength and any other characteristics will not be affected. There is a SGS Certification sign on each of our products, customers can be sure that there are no safety issues associated with our humidifiers.

FLEXIBLE CAPABILITY. By changing the number of fine mist nozzles (1 to 5), adjusting the water pressure and the warm air temperature, DIGI MISTER humidifier can be used for homes and offices of various sizes from 1000 to 3500 sq. ft., as well as work with different types of furnaces.
EASY INSTALLATION. With a patented compact design this humidifier only needs a small cut-out for installation and can fit into a small area and tight space easily. No duct work and drainage are required, and the connection is simple and easy. A 24VAC transformer is required, or an all-inclusive DIGI MISTER humidifier installation kit will make the job much easier. Certain HVAC expertise is needed to perform the installation.
CONVENIENT MAINTENANCE. Through an observation window, users can visually check the water mist status to make sure for a complete evaporation. Spray nozzles can be conveniently tested and cleaned by using a nozzle tester away from the humidifier. With a “swing-out” design the spray nozzles can be replaced effortlessly. The package includes extra replacement nozzles. Users must ensure that the water pressure is adequate, and all nozzles spray fine atomized water mist.
FULL DIGITAL CONTROL. Users can precisely set and adjust room humidity, duct air temperature, as well as many other secondary parameters, such as humidity value calibration, temperature unit between °F and °C, etc.
WATER, ELECTRICITY and Money SAVING. Water is sprayed into the duct under a suitable water pressure (>30 psi) to form an atomized mist which fully evaporates into the air, with no wasted water running off and down the drain. No high water pressure pump, no power fan or high wattage electrode are needed for a very quiet operation and no more evaporative water pads or expansive steam canisters to buy once every winter season.
260-280 NM WAVELENGTH UVC LIGHT. Eight (8) UVC LED lamps equipped on the DM538 humidifier will be turned on whenever the humidifier is powered up. Customers may have this function even in summer when the AC is running.
